"Telling Our Stories"- Conversations with People You Know Workshop

Saturday, September 13, 2014 - 10:00am

Address:
Mackey Hall
353 E. Pine St.
Wooster, OH

In November, the Ohio state legislature will be considering a vote on statewide protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in the workplace, housing, and public accommodations.  You can put your faith in action by "Telling Your Story"!

WHAT:
3-hr training at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mackey Hall, to lift up listening as a spiritual practice. Learn and refine how to craft and share our stories about why we care about LGBT people and changing laws to make life better for all. We will explore how to engage people we know in conversation about LGBT people, with faith and value messages, especially as it relates to transgender justice and the freedom to marry.

WHEN:
Saturday, September 13, 10:00am - 1:00pm (lunch provided)

WHERE:
Westminster Presbyterian Church, 353 E. Pine St. Wooster, OH

WHY:
Personal conversations, especially with people of faith, are one of the most effective ways to encourage anyone to open their hearts and minds about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. It is a social justice strategy that is very effective in communities of faith.
